late to my own party!
okay, so I’m giggling a little bit because I’m late to my very own party! It’s been a crazy few weeks with the end of school upon us (today was our last day…yay!), family in town (first visitor to stay in the guest room) and all of this horrible horrible rain. I am ready for some sunshine and tired of seeing my much awaited blooms to just wilt into the soil allowing the slugs and moisture defeat all of the work I’ve put into my gardens.
Over the past couple weeks, I’ve had the arrival of peonies, roses, snapdragons, ladies mantle, canterbury bells, iris, poppies and so many more cottage blooms. I’ve been cutting them and bringing them inside to enjoy because the weather has just been unpredictable. Almost sounds silly to say that I enjoyed almost a full six hours of weeding, cutting back and moving plants in the garden yesterday. It was beautiful out there and enjoyed finding my peace in the garden sanctuary I’ve created for myself!
above is my most favorite part of the garden view right now…although sad to say that I will be cutting back the peonies this weekend as they’ve already expired their blooms…
This snapshots above, are just a few of the blooms going on in the garden right now…if you’d like to see a larger image, just click on the photo! If you are curious of the name of the plant ~please just send me an email – happy to answer!
The girls enjoyed roaming around the gardens as well!
love the view of the rose terrace in the back…but from a distance ~ as this rain has brought more black spot than I’d like to share!
This photo above is of one side of the front gardens ~ I had to cut back all of the ladies mantle yesterday before it went to seed….I made the mistake a few years ago not to cut it back, and am still finding that plant in several areas of the garden it was not invited to! if you haven’t already, I would love to see you link up to this weeks garden party, or just come by to peek around at the participants!
To see what I may be linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie

The lady's mantle is so pretty. I never have the heart to whack it, so I do have it coming up everywhere. Ah well, it's fairly easy to pull.
Do you cut your peonies all the way back when they're done blooming, or leave the leaves?
