This week in the garden…
I am obsessed with poppies in the garden. My dad gave me some years ago, but they are all hot pink with a black center. I love them, especially when planted in masses – just stunning to see! On my evening stroll through the garden tonight, I came upon this very different colored poppy. It is almost a midnight purple. Just one…all by it’s lonesome. I already marked the stem so I don’t forget to collect the seeds and scatter them next spring in hopes of seeing more of them! Isn’t it lovely?
Also putting on its show is the free seeding mallow in the garden…just a beautiful plant and the hummingbirds love it too!
Crocosmia is beginning to bloom ~ I have it in two colors, both red and yellow…
The lavatera is in bloom and is so pretty against the white picket fence.
A few more Echinacea have bloomed this week…
Next to the patio, I see the cala lilly’s returned. They were accidently buried when I had to replace my snowbell tree last year and I thought they’d disappeared forever since they didn’t show up for summer last year. It’s nice to see them back…
So the Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangeas are taking their time with changing their colors, so I wanted to show you the different colors that are presenting right now…
Please link up your gardening posts to the Cottage Garden Party. (I’ll upload the party in a bit). To see where else I am linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie
