Framework…
I am just so excited to share with you this awesome craft. You can do this with just about any frame with a flat surface laying around your home. Painting or staining the entire frame so that you have one solid color on your piece to work with is the best idea.
Once your frame is dried and ready for your project, just outline with a pencil and cut a piece of paper that suits you to adorn your frame with. I have found thicker paper works better. Be sure to outline and cut a place for the glass window as well. Don’t worry too much about strait pencil lines, as you will be sanding your work.
Next you cover the entire face with modge podge and lay your paper down on top of the frame. Be sure to press from the center outwards to work out any bubbles or imperfections. Again, don’t worry about your pencil lines – sanding will take care of that.
Once your paper is adhered and completely dry to your frame, start sanding the edges of the frame ~ the paper will basically just snap off at the edges. Do this to both the outside and inside boarders.
Don’t be afraid to scuff up the edges with your sandpaper.
I dipped a paper towel into the stain color that I used originally on the frame and touched up where the sand paper had rubbed some of the stain off. A little more sanding here, a little more stain there and the frame is ready for a coat of modge podge.
What do you think?
I myself, am in love with this project! I plan to create more for gifts for friends! To see where else I am linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie
