Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan Project - Shutters

Earlier this week I shared with you my makeover of my dining hutch that I have in my kitchen ~ if you missed it click here! Change is fun, but finding the right accent colors for this room will be something I will have to play with.  I recently won a giveaway over at Dreamy Whites ~ I chose this gorgeous scale to bring into my home and it has become a focal piece for this room transformation.  What could be a better ‘muse’, right?

So after some deliberation, I selected to use the accent color Duck Egg Blue in Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan for some shutters I recently found.
After my experience of painting my kitchen hutch I figured these would need several coats of paint because of the raw wood – however just one coat sufficed! PERFECTLY!  The paint seemed to dry faster, and because I am an experienced ‘waxer’ of Annie Sloan Clear and Dark Wax ~ this job was so easy and fun for me ~ not scary at all! I did need to use one of the kids small paint brushes to get in the nooks and crannies of the shutters but it was totally mindless to do so.

Would you laugh that I got kinda sad when I saw this project coming to an end? I did, I really did…
I applied the clear wax to both shutters and carefully rubbed the clear wax with a cheesecloth.  I also, applied the dark wax so that I could achieve the rustic look I wanted.
Because I was only leaning these against the wall, I couldn’t wait to put it all together and snap some photos to share.

I shopped my own house to combine items I personally love. Aware that spring is coming, I wanted to bring the ‘garden’ into my dining space to enjoy.

Beautiful! Gorgeous! Just wonderful! I love how your newly painted hutch goes with the blue shutters! What great eye-catchers drawing attention to everything on the hutch, including your fabulous new scale! Love the spring touches too - very refreshing during this gloomy winter weather! Enjoy your spectacular new room! Hugs, Leena
O my goodness!! It looks amazing!! I love the shutters on either side, they are the perfect color to accent your other pieces. The trunk underneath is adorable and I love the watering can with the flowers. The shelves are beautiful. Are you loving the white now?? I LOVE it!!
