Book boxes…
Recently I shared with you that I found the most perfect lamps for my daughters room! Love them, but they looked a little low on the shelf that I sat them on…and I don’t like seeing the hole that is drilled for the cords.
so I picked up some of those storage boxes from Michaels that look like a book to see what I could create! I started off by just layering paint colors that I was using in my daughters rooms ~ shades of purples and gold.
After several layers of paint and distressing the edges and corners with gold paint…I started using my rubber stamps to stamp words on the boxes, although you can’t make out any of the words ~ I thought the gold paint looked kinda cool just caked on…
after allowing it to dry I went through my container full of trinkets that I have to see what I could adorn these books with ~ I did just that, labeling them as trinket and treasure boxes!
Once those were glued and dried ~ I began playing with lace and ribbons and more trinkets to apply to my creation.
I love the way this lighting looks now and appreciate not seeing the cord. I think the books should have been a little more lavender ~ I’m sure I can play with the colors of this more in the future and make more, but for now these will definitely do! My daughter loves the secret storage containers too!
