White Mailbox…
So one day when I was peeking around on your blogs – I found this one particular picture that made my heart skip a beat. You know the kind of skip that makes you just have to have one too? This picture was found on Marie’s Mason’s blog almost two months ago and I couldn’t get how lovely it was out of my head.
Now it’s just awaiting the lavender flowers……oh, and the completion of the coop area…hummm, wonder which will happen first?
Recently, I was walking through Monroe, Washington on Main Street and spotted a new store that would be opening soon. In the window was “the one”, the one I’d been looking for – very similar to Marie’s.
My heart was racing & I was so excited to have finally found one. But here’s the catch – there was no name of the store just a note posted on the door “
NEW STORE OPENING SOON”
So a few days ago, I leisurely (and calmly) walked by the store to window shop again. There was a lot of commotion inside the store – unloading trucks, boxes and setting the unpackaged goods up on the shelves…I kindly asked someone walking out the door about the store name and opening date - I was lucky to have caught the owner herself! She told me the store will be opening Friday April 1st and they were all very excited. She let me come in and peek around to see what the store would have to offer. Wow – was I impressed! There are many goodies brought from back the East and had just the right mix of new items as well. What an absolute gem of a store!
The store’s name is called The Golden Mean which in philosophy, “the golden mean is the desirable middle between two extremes, one of the excess and the other of deficiency”. How fun is the name?
I nonchalantly mentioned how much I loved the mailbox in the window and asked her if she’d hold it for me until her opening day on Friday? She said I could take it, if i paid cash for it today? I couldn’t get my wallet out fast enough! Lucky lucky me! I believe I walked out of there & stood by my car for a moment doing the happy dance! I have plans for this sweet little mail box to do exactly what Marie’s Mason’s blog picture showed…holding lavender on my Chicken coop – I’ve heard lavender will keeps the flies away…(I’ll let you know how it works) – but believe it to be the sweetest accent I can add to my coop area project!
Now it’s just awaiting the lavender flowers……oh, and the completion of the coop area…hummm, wonder which will happen first?

Oh thank you for taking me along today to purchase your white mailbox. It is exquisite and will be so gorgeous with its lavender inside. I didn't know that about flies and lavender. I have it in my garden, but I have still had flies, so maybe my pot of lavender will be moved to the patio area to give it a try. I will keep you posted as with the pool, we always have flies. Drives me nuts.
Can't wait to see the mailbox all hung up and displayed. It will be beautiful. I can't wait for you to go back to the store, and show us a little of the inside. It sounds enchanting my friend.
Many hugs and much love, Sherry
Do you grow lavender in your garden? I love how it smells. I have always wanted to grow it, so I might try this summer!
I do love the mailbox and thinking hmmmm...this would be great on my front porch to hold my gardening gloves and shears out of reach of my lil Sara helper...

Don't you just love it when everything goes right and you get what you seek?
I love vintage finds and your mailbox will look sweet with it's parcel of lavender for your chicks.
