Cottage Lilacs…

So beautiful and so fragrant!

I planted several lilacs when we first moved into Fishtail Cottage back in 2006 and I am finally seeing some blooms on these young shrubs after all this time.  I can really appreciate the fragrance while weeding the garden this past week.  I loved it so much that I cut a bunch and brought them inside.  My whole kitchen has been lit up by the beautiful showy flowers & the fragrance brought into my home!

Check out these gorgeous blooms…

Here are the blooms of the lilac shrubs outdoors…I know it will take a few more years to fully see the impact of what a lilac shrub does in my garden. I tried to plant a variety of color’s for cuttings to bring inside! The two varieties I can confirm that are in the garden are Sensation ‘Syringa Vulgaris Sensation’and Syringa pubescens subsp. microphylla 'Superba', but I know there is another that I didn’t document in my garden journal.

Right now, my blooms are far & few – but enough to share with you!

I love lilacs, too! Having just moved here from Michigan, I am thrilled to see them growing out here, and we even have two small trees in our yard! Thanks so much for adding me to your cottage neighbors! I will have to check out the rest of the "neighborhood":)

Tracie, I miss the lilac varieties that I remember from when I was young. I just had some planted a few weeks ago- I am NOT a gardener, so I hope they do well. My idea of gardening is to let things grow, flower, and then I admire. .... all without a lot of work from my end! Is that possible? LOL Your blooms are so pretty! :-) Sue

Lilacs are one of may all time fav's. They smell so wonderful!!!
Your lilacs are gorgeous! There is nothing like the amazing scent of lilacs! When I was younger, we lived in the country in upstate New York and our property was surrounded by gigantic lilac bushes that would overflow with flowers in the spring. Thanks for bringing back the memory :)

Ours, (and when I say ours I really mean the one I gave to my neighbour years ago, duh, stupid move) has been blooming for 2 weeks or so and is starting to brown up. I was so tempted to go in the night and steal some but I didn't.
What a fabulous flower they are, just too short lived.
