Ruffles & Rust Finds…

I know you are so excited to know what I brought home from Ruffles & Rust! I posted about the show earlier this week – if you missed it, please click here to go back and see!

From Bountiful Home, I picked up this fabulous zinc pitcher…I’ve seen them before but never found one that was affordable to bring home here.  It’s dented and rusted and whitewashed…all good things for the décor here at Fishtail Cottage.

At a booth called “Annie’s”, I found this darling sign for my kitchen…for above the pass through!

Also found in Annie’s booth an old rusted tool box tote and a roughed up galvanized bucket – because I can always find a place for these items!

But my favorite find of the day was these gorgeous cast iron urns..remember, I told you I was good at staying focused on finding some for the fireplace?  and I did… aren't they beautiful? The fact that they have pedestals to accompany them was a bonus in my book!

But when I brought them into my home and set the on each side of my rusty gate…I decided they were not the right fit…its just a little too much, don’t ya think!!!???!!!

Thanks for coming by to see what I found at Ruffles and Rust on 10/22/11! If you have any suggestions about the fireplace ~ please do share! Hugs. To see what I am linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie

I love the urns. LOVE THEM! I think the height of the plants are making them seem overwhelming. Nice finds. I love zinc and rust.

Tracie- What great finds. I love the urns too. I don't know if the urns are too much-I think it might be greenery in them. I think it would look better to have something a tad shorter & rounder in there maybe? They are gorgeous though!

I also love the pitcher and that sign is great! xo Diana

Can they be removed from the pedestal to see how the size is with the same greens? It's worth trying just to see..I put my thumb over the greens in the photo to see if something less tall or less full would look different..maybe something in cascade would look good or mabe a topiary..they have thinner stalks with a round head..not so pointed upwards.Try a few other things and then go with what you like..so many things to try..your on the right track and I know you will find the right look..this is the fun part of finding treasures...

I love everything Tracie, especially the zinc pitcher and the old tool box. I've always wanted one but don't really know what I would do with it! I'll be curious to see how you use yours.

The urns are fabulous...I'm sure you will find the perfect place to put them if you don't leave them by the fireplace!!

XO,
Jane

I agree with Diana and Shirley, Tracie. I think if you took away the plinth (?), that they would create a more unified look there. Play with them and let us know what you end up doing. They are absolutely, positively, stunningly, yummaliciously French! Great finds! :)

Love it all!

Wow!!! I am an urn addict and what a find with plinth and all. You lucky gal... And yes I think they are a bit much for the fire place. Maybe if you took out the plants and topped them with a topiary ball of sorts. But anyway they are treasures and timeless.

I love your urns. I agree that it's the plants that are making them seem like too tall for your fireplace. I'll be following to see what you come up with.

Hi Tracie ~

Love those urns ~ the rosettes are so pretty.

I've been out of touch and am trying to reconnect with some favorite blogs.

What a lot of great finds!
I agree that the urns are a bit too much, and wonder if they might be a better fit if you removed the plants and filled them with a seasonal collection that was more round - pinecones and nuts this time of year, coloured balls for Christmas, something topiary in the summer - you could have some fun!

That sounded like such a great show... glad you enjoyed it! I love the stuff you got... and I like the urns by the fireplace! Maybe a whitewash coat would make them blend in more? But they look cool whichever way.
