Pie Cabinet in the Hallway…

Between the kitchen and the Master Suite, is a hallway.  It was a fantastic place for the pie cabinet to find it’s place here at Fishtail Cottage ~ it hosts cook books and my collection of scales that I started a few years ago…

101The cabinet was found in a local boutique here in Washington, but the story that was told about the cabinet was just too cool to walk away from.  In a little village in Guatemala, this piece was made by hand by one of the locals.  104During the staining process a dog walked across the wood – leaving a paw print in the stain (so cute)!  and on one of the inside doors, an outline of what looks like a person with a bird flying above …I really am wondering what it is; any thoughts?

The Cabinet was hauled all the way back here to Washington State to be sold along with several other pieces ~ but this one truly has the character and charm I love seeing every single day in my home!086087

That is a nice story about your cabinet. The larger spot does look like a person and a bird. You found the perfect spot for the cabinet.

I love the cabinet, and especially the paw print and the person. :) What a great piece. You've decorated it so cute with the birdcages and scales.

Have a great week.

Great cabinet. I love the story behind it..the dog paw print and what a cool image that has "appeared" in the wood. Love it- xo Diana
A great piece and the perfect place to it. I love the story about it and the paw prints.
MMMM my style of cabinet, really nice especially with all that history. Maybe the craftsman put that little carving on there as his signature?

Very pretty cabinet, don't your just love knowing the "history" behind the piece. Love the story about the paw print, don't know what the other is. But it does look like a person with a bird above! It's the perfect cabinet for that spot. Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration at Sunday's Best Par.tay!
