late to my own party!

okay, so I’m giggling a little bit because I’m late to my very own party!  It’s been a crazy few weeks with the end of school upon us (today was our last day…yay!), family in town (first visitor to stay in the guest room) and all of this horrible horrible rain.  I am ready for some sunshine and tired of seeing my much awaited blooms to just wilt into the soil allowing the slugs and moisture defeat all of the work I’ve put into my gardens.

Over the past couple weeks, I’ve had the arrival of peonies, roses, snapdragons, ladies mantle, canterbury bells, iris, poppies and so many more cottage blooms.  I’ve been cutting them and bringing them inside to enjoy because the weather has just been unpredictable.  Almost sounds silly to say that I enjoyed almost a full six hours of weeding, cutting back and moving plants in the garden yesterday.  It was beautiful out there and enjoyed finding my peace in the garden sanctuary I’ve created for myself!

above is my most favorite part of the garden view right now…although sad to say that I will be cutting back the peonies this weekend as they’ve already expired their blooms…

This snapshots above, are just a few of the blooms going on in the garden right now…if you’d like to see a larger image, just click on the photo! If you are curious of the name of the plant ~please just send me an email – happy to answer!

The girls enjoyed roaming around the gardens as well!

love the view of the rose terrace in the back…but from a distance ~ as this rain has brought more black spot than I’d like to share!

This photo above is of one side of the front gardens ~ I had to cut back all of the ladies mantle yesterday before it went to seed….I made the mistake a few years ago not to cut it back, and am still finding that plant in several areas of the garden it was not invited to!  if you haven’t already, I would love to see you link up to this weeks garden party, or just come by to peek around at the participants!

To see what I may be linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie

Your gardens look lovely Tracie! I was thinking about this drought we're in here and I almost prefer that to too much rain... at least I can water as needed and where needed as long as my well holds out... it's much harder to "sop up" excess moisture! Larry
Your hard work sure is paying off! Your blooms are gorgeous!

We have anything BUT rain- it is scorching dry here and everything is wilting and turning brown.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Tracie - your garden is crazy gorgeous! Oh my gosh, I want to join "the girls" and just wander around your garden all day long! You've done such a beautiful job!... Donna
Glad you made it to your party Tracie. :0) Your garden is looking beautiful. It has been a difficult year for gardening though. My day lilies have some kind of fungus that I have been spraying for. But I think it is now getting into my iris.
Hi Tracie! Your flowers and gardens are so gorgeous! I am sorry that you've been suffering with so much rain and that it has taken away some of your gardening enjoyment! That stinks! I hope that things will rebound once dried out so you can spend many more happy hours outside! Have a great weekend! Hugs, Leena

that's some lucky chicks that get to roam your pretty gardens. Even though we just had our first really hot days this week and lots of rain this past Spring, some of my garden flowers are acting very strangely. It's weird. HPS

Wonderful pictures !! I know what you mean. It has been raining almost non-stop in The Netherlands too. I am so ready for Summer. There are several plants I couldn't enjoy, because they were beaten down by the rain. No fun at all.

I just can't imagine how much time you must spend in your gardens to keep them looking so pristine. Just beautiful. I envy your roses. I don't have the patience to be as good to them as they need.

Your garden is SO beautiful! I could look at it all day. I've been so busy working that I haven't had as much time to spend in my own garden lately!

Take care,

Tracie,
Your garden is beautiful. Sorry for the rain you're having but the flowers you've shown us are spectacular.
Enjoy your weekend.
Karen
Your gardens are lovely Tracie. I do like the peonies along your walkway. Who knew lady's mantle could become an invasive plant? Well, the flowers are worth the work of cutting them off after.

That first picture is stunning!
The lady's mantle is so pretty. I never have the heart to whack it, so I do have it coming up everywhere. Ah well, it's fairly easy to pull.
Do you cut your peonies all the way back when they're done blooming, or leave the leaves?
What a beautiful garden. Thanks for sharing it.
Oh the rain. I live in Arizona, so we deal with a much bigger issue here.
