Week six of our great room remodel…

IMG_0190The floors are in! Sanded and stained and top coats are drying as I type this…& boy is it stinky!  Grateful that we didn’t have to move out of the house ~ because figuring out where everyone (animals included) would have been a nightmare. We did move the birds into the bonus room for this week to ensure they were safely able to breath and at night time, the kids and pooches are sleeping in our room! Hoping tomorrow the fumes will have calmed down enough for us to enjoy our weekend at home!
This is all that really happened this week!  Seeing the hardwoods installed, can allow me to now visualize what is to come.

Chunky Wool & Natural Jute Rug SwatchWe decided to order new couches for the room through Haley’s Cottage.  They should arrive the first or second week of December.  I did purchase a beautiful rug (floor model sale) from Pottery Barn for the center of the room

Also found this pretty ottoman (another floor model sale) to use in place of the leather one we decided to leave upstairs in the bonus room… image

We still plan to use the sofa table, bar stools and leather chairs purchased last year.  I think the dark colors will bring the color of the beams and the glaze details in the cabinets all together…

So it’s really fun seeing it all coming together!  This next week the paneling under the bar area should be installed.  Electrical completed. Floor boards put back in place.  Which means we can start moving in the following week when the flooring is completely “cured”.  Thanks for coming over to see what happened over the week ~ I am getting so excited!

Nothing like the smell of refinished floors to keep a family close!

It's really coming together. Love, love the rug you chose and can't wait to see the couches. Perfect timing so that you can decorate this room for the holidays. It's going to be stunning!

Tracie, I know it will be beautiful when completed. Have a great week.
Hi Tracie,
Oh how I hate that smell. But it will be all worth it in the end. It is coming along nicely. Love the ottoman and rug! Also wanted to tell you that I have put our Christmas party button on my sidebar. I have attached my html to it. Hop over copy it and attach your html for your sidebar. I was hoping Diann from the Thrifty Groove would join us but she is having some family problems right now. Decided to go ahead with just us three. Hope that's o.k. with you. I will do a post to advertise it. It would be great if we all did that and encouraged people to put our button on their blog. Let me know if there's anything you would like different.
Hugs,
Jann
