Countdown to Christmas…

It’s officially December and the countdown to Christmas can begin!  Yesterday I started some holiday crafting here at Fishtail Cottage.  I love creating things this time of year and today I want to share with you the Advent Calendar my kids and I made yesterday.

Using a board I found at Home Goods that already showed distressed wood with padded with burlap in the center – I hammered in 24 small nails spacing my wooden tags found at Michaels. 

Using craft paper scraps we already had on hand and gluing it to our wood tags adorning our own collection of accessories stored for crafting days such as this – we created 24 handmade tags to use for our advent calendar!

We left them hanging overnight to dry…

 

 

This morning I took them all down and put them in individual paper bags not only will this protect our hard work that we created, but to also keep it a surprise of which each one the kids will chose to hang each morning!

 

This morning I hung the board in the kitchen and topped it off with some outside tree garland (it also hides the nail hardware).

Will be exciting to add something new each day to our Advent Calendar while we count down the days until Christmas together!
