Oh my goodness…Paris!
While Christmas shopping I came across the most fabulous and dreamiest book ever! A coffee table book worthy of any living room! Yes, I may be a little bias when it comes to anything gardening, but who could not be in complete awe of the photographs included in this gorgeous book? Especially for those of us who dream of someday visiting such a place and seeing these secret gardens with out own eyes…
This book is full of beautiful photographs of architecture, gardens and art for anyone that loves natures beauty!
San Francisco—October 2014. When French queen Catherine de Medici created the Tuileries Palace and Garden outside Paris’s medieval walls, she began the unprecedented expansion and greening of one of the world’s great cities. Now Paris’s extraordinary public parks are rivaled only by secret courtyard gardens and miniature orchards of delight on hidden roof terraces.
Among the more than 30 great and small projects within In & Out of Paris are Vaux-le-Vicomte, Versailles, and Courances—all classic André Le Nôtre–style French gardens. Also discover the Paris gardens of celebrated artist Jean-Michel Othoniel and art aficionado Pierre Bergé, architect Kenzō Takada’s Japanese retreat in the Bastille, Australian couturier Martin Grant’s tiny terrace in the Marais, Mexican painter MariCarmen Hernandez’s Montmartre rooftop, and American architect Michael Herrman’s homage to Le Corbusier’s surreal ChampsÉlysées garden for bon vivant Charles de Beistegui.
Modern masters Louis Benech, Gilles Clement, Pascal Cribier, Christian Fournet, Camille Muller, Hugues Peuvergne, and Pierre-Alexandre Risser are also featured, representing a new era of experiments, color, and asymmetry in the Paris garden.
Every page is so inviting and this book is full of information (I promise it’s not just photographs!)
