Fishtail Cottage Garden - May 2019

I am pretty sure this is my favorite time in the garden. Mostly because trees and shrubs now have leaves on them and still there is still so much to look forward to.

In this photo below you can see this gorgeous unnamed maple that has leafed out. It is unnamed because it came from a seedling that sprouted.  I kept in a pot for several years before finally planting it in the landscape.  You can also see the blush noisette rose shrub getting ready to bloom its first flush and bleeding hearts appearing all over the landscape.
This area behind the Chicken Coops is just gorgeous packed full of rhododendrons, hostas, bleeding hearts, lilacs and whatever else I could fit in the space.

Awakening is the amazing fragrance of Sweet Woodruff that I have allowed to seed itself wherever it likes.  It's a fantastic Pacific Northwest Ground Cover. If it feels to invasive, I just pull it out. I love it because it grows freely, yet doesn't choke anything out.

The side yard is full of Spanish Bluebells tulips and columbine.
The backyard has Florida Dogwoods blooming - nothing beats these blooms.
Roses and Snowball Shrubs are blooming.
A massive amount of bleeding hearts is tucked in any place possible right now.
Lilacs are blooming in every color.
But the most stunning is this Adirondak Crabapple and the Northern Highlight Azaleas....my dad purchased me one of these azaleas and the fragrance is so intoxicating I've added so many more to both the front yard and the also the backyard.

Columbine in all shapes and colors have appeared.
And of course, the Tree Peonies are in full bloom right now.

There are so many more plants blooming right now ….I will have to share more with you next month. The garden is really glowing this month. Thank you for visiting - please check out my Instagram feed along with my Facebook page to see more photo's. xoxo, tracie
