In the garden 5/22/13

It’s unbelievable to me that it doesn’t feel that long ago that I was complaining of the long winter here in Seattle.  Even more so unbelievable that today, I am about to share with you some of the most beautiful blooms in my garden landscape.

When the Iris’s appear, I know that my garden is in ‘peak season’ here at Fishtail Cottage.  The weather hasn’t had so much rain that things are falling over, yet not too much sunshine that these gorgeous blooms are not withered within a day.

Last weeks blog post received a lot of comments about how beautiful the columbine here at Fishtail Cottage is ~ thank you, I am going to have to agree! It seems that this year they appeared exactly where color is needed and makes a great filler where there is extra space.

In order ~ Oriental Poppy, Lupine and Spiderwort, Sweet William, Euphorbia have appeared…

Some of our gorgeous native plants also have shown their blooms. The first photo is un-named, but it grows everywhere here with pretty white whimsical flowers. Azaleas and Rhododendron are just gorgeous this time of year.

It’s nice to see delphinium returning along with daylily's and the beginning show of the Pink Flowering Dogwood.

The snowball shrubs are still showing their glorious selves…but I can see the decline in the happiness of the blooms this week.

Finally, Roses…most of my roses have been purchased from Heirloom Roses, which means most of my roses are uniquely chosen for their fragrance and petals.

I love the snowball shrubs! Azaleas are always so pretty to look at too. Our azalea bloom time has long since past. :) Your roses are gorgeous!
I'm in flower heaven when I come here, Tracie! Everything looks happy and healthy and thriving. It's been so rainy here, I'm not sure what I have growing. I sure would love some of those snowball bushes...soooo pretty!

Jane

I LOVE the flowers in your garden. They are each a favorite of mine. I live just a few miles from Heirloom Roses - and I've never been there! That is going to change soon. Real soon! Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers. You inspire me to keep working on my gardens.

Every single one is just gorgeous, as usual. Love the little virtual garden tours.
That was a nice tour of your gardens Tracie. I see a couple of purple irises I like and your roses look so healthy!

Love the rhodies, they have been amazing this Spring. But your irises are just spectacular! I have visited heirloom roses and I can't wait to visit again!

All your flowers are just beautiful, but I love the red lupine best for the next five minutes. :) Then I will be loving some other flower the best, like the iris on the left side of the second row of photos. Oh, my, it is so pretty.

Thank you for hosting the Garden Party....

Your garden blooms look so beautiful! Can I ask you what your first rose posted there is? I have the same one (or very, very close) and was wondering what it was. Thanks Tracie!

Oh my, I don't know where to start Tracie. Everything is gorgeous. Your garden must look absolutely amazing right now.

We are a few weeks behind you here in Ontario, Canada. But my irises are starting to bloom and the lilacs are still in their full glory. Buds on the roses and clematis promise to give us more colour in the next week or so.

Tracie, I didn't realize you are in Seattle!! Where are you located? I'm in Normandy Park, near Burien, west of SeaTac. At 700 feet our garden isn't quite as far along as yours is. Lovely display and photos.
Tracie your garden is stunning. I especially love the white iris with the tints of purple frilled around the tips. xx
