DC…

Recently I took a trip back east to visit family.  I had a wonderful time and wanted to share a few of the photo’s of places we visited!
My first day there we visited the White House, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial (one of my favorites) and of course – walked around the gorgeous and historical downtown area.

The next day we attended a Washington Nationals/Baltimore Oriels Baseball Game…which happened to be Memorial Day ~ it felt so patriotic to attend!

My third day was spent visiting just about every square inch of the Arlington Cemetery…it was a very moving experience. I found that many of the places in DC just cannot be captured by a camera ~ it has to be both seen and felt…

My eldest son has a friend he’s known since little league buried here in Arlington ~ I was so glad to finally visit Eric L. Ward LCPL ‘s final resting place to pay my respects.

Day number four we found ourselves taking the ‘Metro’ into DC and renting bicycles, seeing the Vietnam Wall, touring the Holocaust Museum and then taking the Metro again to try out the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl!

The next day we found ourselves getting lost on side streets and antiquing…I didn’t find anything to bring home with me, but I sure found some beautiful places! Painted chippy brick is a new favorite!

My last day was spent in Georgetown – shopping for souvenirs for the kiddos’ and of course grabbing cupcakes at the famous ~ such a fun fun fun trip! I cannot wait to go back to visit again and again!

Good Golly! I can't believe you were here! I live within an hour from DC.I can't believe you were all the way here! I have to tell you that I laughed when you said you went to a Washington Nationals/Boston Oriels game. It's Baltimore Orioles LOL! That's what they call the Battle of the Beltways! Isn't Nationals Stadium nice? Of course, I'm an Atlanta Braves fan, but I do go to the Nat's and Orioles stadiums when the Braves are in town and when my husband's favorites, the Boston Red Sox are here. We haven't been in a while though. You saw some awesome sites! Isn't Arlington Cemetery something special? It just has this aura about it. Did you see the changing of the guards? That is quite something. Makes me tear up with pride and respect. The Vietnam Memorial is that way too. I wore a POW/MIA bracelet for a soldier whose helicopter was shot down. I wore it for years until the metal started to wear down and damage my skin. I blogged about it once, maybe last Memorial Day. Seeing his name on that wall just made me cry, even though I'd never known him. Love the pictures you took! So cute! Looks like you had a great time! I've never been antiquing in DC but I'm with you - love that old brick! I'm so glad that you had a fun and safe trip! Maybe another time we can meet up! xoxo, Leena
You look like you are having so much fun...although I'm not sure which one you are!! I love the East coast but I've never seen this area. Thanks for the little tour and I'm so glad you had a wonderful time!!

DC is one of my favourite places on earth. And as a Canadian, I was surprised at how moved I was by Arlington Cemetery, the LIncoln Memorial and most especially the Korean War Memorial with it's haunting beauty at night.

Looks like you had an amazing trip.

Looks like you had a very fun time!! Love that first pic of you jumping in the air. If I tried that I would have been in the hospital for the duration of the trip! lol Great photos and memories made.
Blessings~
Sounds like you packed in a lot during your stay Tracie. My husband and I would like to tour war memorial places in Washington - a lot of history there.
