DC…
Recently I took a trip back east to visit family. I had a wonderful time and wanted to share a few of the photo’s of places we visited!
My first day there we visited the White House, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial (one of my favorites) and of course – walked around the gorgeous and historical downtown area.
The next day we attended a Washington Nationals/Baltimore Oriels Baseball Game…which happened to be Memorial Day ~ it felt so patriotic to attend!
My third day was spent visiting just about every square inch of the Arlington Cemetery…it was a very moving experience. I found that many of the places in DC just cannot be captured by a camera ~ it has to be both seen and felt…
My eldest son has a friend he’s known since little league buried here in Arlington ~ I was so glad to finally visit Eric L. Ward LCPL ‘s final resting place to pay my respects.
Day number four we found ourselves taking the ‘Metro’ into DC and renting bicycles, seeing the Vietnam Wall, touring the Holocaust Museum and then taking the Metro again to try out the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl!
The next day we found ourselves getting lost on side streets and antiquing…I didn’t find anything to bring home with me, but I sure found some beautiful places! Painted chippy brick is a new favorite!
My last day was spent in Georgetown – shopping for souvenirs for the kiddos’ and of course grabbing cupcakes at the famous ~ such a fun fun fun trip! I cannot wait to go back to visit again and again!
