Burlap Lamp Shade…

So, do you remember when I shared this post about my little lamp shade makeover?  Well, this little lamp shade needed another attempt at a creative change!  I did a lot of holiday crafting this season and while cleaning up my tiny craft closet, I came across some unused burlap and had an “ah ha” moment! I don’t have a sewing machine (yet) but I did hand sew this little lamp shade ~ not well, but I did give it a try! this photo below is the end result which I used in my New Years Mantle post ~ I didn’t address the lamp at all, as I wasn’t ready to point it out to you!

My hand sewing job wasn’t much – I didn’t even take photo’s while doing this project because I wasn’t sure what I was doing – so there no impressive tutorial!  lol Basically I just wrapped the burlap around the lamp shade and hand sewed the top of it to keep the burlap away from the bulb.

I don’t own a hot glue gun (yet) either, so I hand sewed this little fabric flower to the rim of the burlap.

I posted on instagram and received honest feedback, some hated it…some loved it…and some just couldn’t decide.  For some reason, when you are standing in the great room, it does work and in person it’s a little charming because of it’s thrown together look.  Who knows how long it will stay, but for now ~ I kinda like it!

I think it's a sweet little lamp shade! How in the world do you get along without a glue gun? A sewing machine I can see for the most part, as I don't use mine much, but no glue gun and you do all that wonderful decorating? Wow! Hugs, Leena
It's sweet Tracie! And I love the little wire heart in the doorknob I spied.
hugs,
Jann
I still think it's super cute! :))

It is just adorable! Love the contrast of the crystal with the burlap.
