Master Sitting Room…

Have you ever started a project without a clue what you are doing?  Well – guess who is part of the club! I shared with you that we were going to tear down a wall between the master bedroom sitting area to enlarge the dining space.  However, we found out shortly after the process of selling and buying items for the project that we were unable to remove this wall. You see, this wall is considered a "sheer wall". A sheer wall is what holds the house together in not so ordinary circumstances; such as the weight of the snow on your roof, an earthquake etc. Anyway, so, not “we” – but “I” sold and purchased a few items...   Here is the sitting room before the ‘idea’ of this project. The chair sold right away, I have most everything (besides the photo of my husband and I) for sale ~ so if you are interested in anything you see don’t hesitate to ask!

This is what I bought and now selling for the dining project ~ This gorgeous 92" x 45" 29" rustic farmhouse table that sits on sawhorses – so solid…I had dreams of future large family dinners gathered around this table. One of the great features about this table, is it can fold down flat for storage (alfresco dining?)

…and this perfect extra long 80" x 33" x 19" farmhouse bench.  Can you imagine how great this would be for grandchildren? My thoughts were, that they wouldn’t fall off! How many do you think you could fit?

I did however, get to hang the chandeliers that I purchased – if you missed that post, you can see it here! But I do have these pretty cool rustic lights that need a new home too! So, if you love these – they are available too!

Anyway – enough about that…It’s been stressing me out that my once gorgeous and cozy sitting room now sits empty ~ well, almost empty…its full of clutter and catching everything that hasn’t found a place right now.  So this morning I woke up and decided to something I always wanted to try, a book paper wall…and I DID! It isn’t perfect by any means – especially in the lower right corner…squeezing in between the wall and book shelf (too heavy for me to move) was awkward.  But I’m pretty happy with how it turned out ~ hosts lots of character now!

I used those books I shared with you from my recent ‘finds’ 1930’s Yearbook of Agriculture. I tried to carefully selected each page side that pertained to gardening for me to enjoy when I am in the room.

 

Most people won’t pay that close attention to the detail and words on the wall, but I sure did while I was creating my “art”! I used regular Mod Podge from the craft store to adhere it to the wall.  It’s what I had on hand and seemed to work fantastic.   Somewhat overwhelmed at first ~ because after just a few sections completed, I realized I had so much more to go…and my pages were not going on as strait as I would have liked them to be.  The edges were sticking up and didn’t look ‘neat’ but after awhile, and more layering ~ it seemed fine.

I am starting to feel some ideas for this room now that I’ve completed this book paper wall…so yes, there is more to come! To see where else I am linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie
