hummm? Rumor about the new way to follow!
March 1st I posted the information (scroll to post below) to share with you a new way to follower here on my page.
I’ve been told that the information to be rid of google connect is just a rumor and the new linky is not necessary! A friend sent this to me this am…
“ This is not true, I have been in direct contact with google and anyone who is linked with blogspot google blogger will not lose there GFC google friends connect. Googles own site is Google.blogspot.com and as they told me in our conversation why would they do away with there own GFC and lose there own following :)
I wish this big rumor would clear up, spread the word.
Official Google Blog: January 2011: Go to link above it will explain that Google is not getting rid of Blogger Friends Connect, just other sites such as typepad and so on. Google said anyone who linked google with Blogger did it right, googles own site is a Blogspot blog site Google Friends Connect site. Linky will not support the friends connect as google does.”
I wish this big rumor would clear up, spread the word.

To keep my blog page simple ~ I myself will be removing the ‘linky followers” tool on my side bar. (I will connect all of those that signed up under that link to make sure they are following under the google link.
I was just visiting Michelle over at Emerald Cove and she has introduced a new way to follow your blogs since apparently Google Friend Connect will be no more as of March 1st.
I have it set up on my sidebar.
I will let them explain it all because they do it so well, so click HERE to find out how you can add this and join up for FREE!!! It's So Very Cheri has some more great info about it as well. You can also still follow along through email of RSS feed if that is preferred.
**Update: GFC will be discontinued for non-Blogger blogs, like Wordpress.
Take a look around and see what would work best for you but at least there is another option if GFC does leave Blogger as well some day.

I knew that Google wasn't removing their Google Friend Connect for other Blogspot bloggers. The new linky is a way for those who have Wordpress, Typepad and their own .com to follow our blog. I am keeping my new linky for now until I hear if 'those' blogging friends don't use it. I don't wan't to lose any of my friends! :~P
Thanks for the heads up!
I too did not think google would leave us high and dry. I added linky to my sidebar and now I've found that some people are only following that way. I think it might be nice to get rid of it also. I am already following GFC. Thanks for the heads up!

Jann
I had added it to my blog just in case. I do want to follow other blogs that are not on blogger also.
Thanks for letting us know. :-)

I'm just disgusted with Google right now, they took my beloved Picnik away and now I feel as if they're trying to forcefeed their social network on us...I have zero interest in any social network aside from my blog!
While it isn't a necessity to have the new Linky Followers installed on our blogs, I think that it serves as another opportunity for non-Blogger readers to follow Blogger platform blogs, since they won't be able to use GFC. It certainly can't hurt to have multiple ways for people to sign on to follow us- and that would include RSS feeds and e-mail subscriptions. I offer all of these on my own blog. I don't have any vested interests in Linky Followers, but I do think it's nice for all blogging platforms to have an alternative. :-)

Susan and Bentley
This is a great message Tracie, thank you for helping the storm come to a calm.
