My Daughters Room…

My daughters room has been the same since she was four…but now that she is twelve (almost 13) she is ready for some major changes!!!  To be honest, so am I!  I love taking on these types of projects…it’s sort of a challenge for me to bring another room to flow with the rest of the house, yet personalize it for the one who resides in it.  After my son’s recent room makeover ~ she said to me, “Mom – do whatever you want and surprise me!”  The fact that she loves vintage pieces mixed in with newer pieces makes this project even more fun for me!    Here is her room now…please ignore the mess – but this is reality!

I love using Pinterest, as I can create an inspiration board and refer to it whenever I need to!

The color scheme that I decided on – yes, I did run it by her is this…so most everything I plan to choose, will be compared to these two photo’s.

imageDecided to leave the bead board in her room white and paint the wall Sherwin Williams Veiled Violet #6268 .

We’ve decided to keep her bed and storage towers (for now), but selling a lot of pieces from her room on craigslist.

This is the bedding I’ve picked up from Target. I think it will be pretty with the wall color!

I’m in love with this chandelier from Restoration Hardware Baby ~ but the price is way too expensive..so I will find something similar (eventually)!

I love the idea of using these cozy euro sized faux fur pillows and bean bag (now out of stock at Pottery Barn)! grrr! Makes me mad now that I waited so long to decide to order these!  But maybe it was meant to be that I’ll find something less expensive!  If you have any suggestions as to where I can find something similar, please let me know!

A few finds that I’ve ordered from creative friends, is the handcrafted crown and dream catcher!  So beautiful…I really believe they will complete the room with romantic unique touches! Click on the photo’s to be taken to their site.

I think I can make something similar to this book ~ we’ll see if I can get “my crafty on”!  I think it’s absolutely beautiful!

I will update you with inspirational finds as I bring them home!  To see where else I am linking to this week – please check my “Cottage Links” label…xoxo, tracie

Beautiful ~ and I love that you showed it in it's natural state.

So excited to see what you put together Tracie!!
I was surprised that she could still relate to a room that she had since she was so young but it's not childish looking at all. And it's so neat that she gave you the go ahead to do what you want...she trusts you!!

I searched high and low for bedding when I re~did our master just recently. You will be surprised that The Land Of Nod has reasonable prices, I looked because they had queen size comforters and duvets and lots in gray which I was looking for. West Elm also has some good prices on bedding and pillows. ew thoughts. Have fun!

Jane

That's so great that she's happy to let you have at it. I've always thought it would be so fun to have a lavender room. So I shall live vicariously through her. Looking forward to watching it come together!

Wow, your daughter is one lucky girl! I love that new bedding you picked up at Target! Isn't Target one of the best places?! That violet color is also yummy... I can't wait to see it all pulled together... I know it's going to be fabulous! You can come and redo my house anytime you want, lol!
Hugs and happy redesigning!

Your daughter must be so excited. Love the bedding you chose and that light from RH is pretty, maybe you can find something similar. Too bad those items from PB are out of stock. HG ma y have something similar or somewhere on the internet I bet. can't wait to see the reveal.

I can hardly WAIT to see how Jaclyn's room turns out, Tracie! You have chosen some of the most beautiful and whimsical things to style it with. Love it all! ♥ That dusty violet color is just gorgeous! Do you think that you could sew your own furry pillow? That lavender book is so pretty. I may have to paint a few books here at Heaven's Walk! :)

Thank you so much for the sweet shout-out, too. You should be receiving your dream catcher in a couple days! Hope you and Jaclyn love it! ♥

It's going to look amazing!! Can't wait!
Looks like you've got a great start! My daughter is 28 and was just reminiscing about the time I re-did her room over a weekend while she was away and surprised her when she came home. She was about 7 years old....it was a memory maker for her. I am sure whatever you do for your daughter will be too. Visiting from Make It Pretty Monday!
Per my daughter's request, I recently worked with her on redecorating her room. Fortunately, we had many items around the home. My daughter's room is neat, but she became neat in her space over the past year.

I love the choice of SW violet. It is so versatile because of the gray tones.

You might find something with crystals at a second-hand store or vintage shop for not much.

Ikea sells faux sheep skin rugs, and the faux ones are ten dollars. Maybe you could make a cover or use them on the floor or the bed. I was also recently surprised by how much bean bag chairs have gone up in price!
It's going to be lovely, Tracie! Thank you for sharing! You are one of the fan favorites at the Sunday Showcase from the Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Here is the link so you can check out your feature. http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2013/11/sunday-showcase-from-make-it-pretty_10.html Hope to see your prettiness again at the bash! Tracie, your daughter's room is going to be just beautiful. How wonderful that she will let you pretty much take charge. Speaking from experience that is a hard age to have them like the same things you do. You are very lucky. I love all the feminine touches. .Happy Sunday..Judy
Gorgeous colors, and the bedding is just divine! Love it.
Hugs,
Patti
